Confession and Forgiveness

P         Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Word made flesh, the Lord and giver of life.

C         AMEN.

P          Let us come before God in confession.

Silence is kept for reflection.

P          God of glory,

C         God of peace, we confess that we have shunned the light that reveals the truth abut us. We cling to worldly things rather than share the gifts of this earth. We trust ourselves above all. Save Your people, O God, and free us to live boldly in the Light and Truth of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

P          The grace of God shines upon us, bringing salvation to the whole world. We are saved; our sins are washed away, not because of anything we have done, but according to God's mercy in + Jesus Christ. Renewed by the Holy Spirit, let us live in hope and joy.

C         AMEN.

Greeting  and Prayer of the Day

P          Christ is born: Alleluia, alleluia! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C         AND ALSO WITH YOU. ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA!

P         Let us pray.

A brief silence is kept before the prayer.

God of all learning, when the boy, Jesus, stayed in the temple to learn from the elders, it was the elders who in turn learned from Him. Teach us, Lord, as You have taught others, and grant us wisdom and willingness to learn.

C     AMEN.

Please be seated.

WORD

Psalm 8: 1,2

Sung responsively by verse.

 O | LORD our Lord,
How majestic is your name in | all the earth!—
you whose glory is chanted above the heavens
out of the mouths of in- | fants and children;
you have set up a fortress against your enemies,
to silence the foe | and avenger.
Glory be to the Father, and | to the Son,
and to the | Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now and |ever shall be
world without | end. Amen.

C     AMEN.

Great Thanksgiving

P          The Lord be with you.

C         AND ALSO WITH YOU.

P         Lift up your hearts.

C         WE LIFT THEM TO THE LORD.

P          Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

C         IT IS RIGHT TO GIVE OUR THANKS AND PRAISE

P          We give You thanks, Father, through Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, whom You sent in this end of the ages to save and redeem us and to proclaim to us Your will

He is Your Word, inseparable from You, through whom You created all things, and in whom You take delight. He is Your Word, sent from heaven to a virgin's womb. He there took on our nature and our lot and was shown forth as Your Son, born of the Holy Spirit and of the virgin Mary. He, our Lord Jesus, fulfilled all Your will and won for You a holy people; He stretched out His hands in suffering in order to free from suffering those who trust You.

He is the one who, handed over to a death He freely accepted, in order to destroy death, to break the bonds of the evil one, to crush hell underfoot, to give light to the righteous, to establish His covenant, and to show forth the resurrection, taking bread and giving thanks to You, said:

Take and eat; this is My body, given for You.

Do this for the remembrance of Me.

P          Remembering, then, His death and resurrection, we take this bread, giving You thanks that You have made us worthy to stand before You and to serve You as Your priestly people.

Send Your Spirit upon these gifts of Your church; gather into one all who share this bread; fill us with Your Holy Spirit to establish our faith in truth, that we may praise and glorify You through Your Son Jesus Christ; through whom all glory and honor are Yours, almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in Your holy church with the Holy Spirit, in Your holy Church, both now and forever.

C          AMEN.

P          Lord, remember us in Your kingdom and teach us to pray:

C          OUR FATHER, WHO ART…

P          God fills the hungry with good things. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Distribution of Bread

P         The body of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in His grace.

C         AMEN.

A         Let us pray. God our Father, whose Word has come among us in the Holy Child of Bethlehem: may the light of faith illumine our hearts and shine in our words and deeds; through Him who is Christ the Lord.

C         AMEN.
