                                                        Biography

Breena Loraine is currently attending San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (management) and a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance, focusing on opera and early sacred music.  Her academic organizations and honor societies include the University Honors Program, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International, and Phi Eta Sigma, and she has been on the Dean’s List every semester for academic achievement.  This summer, Breena had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Oxford in England with a program for honors students, concentrating on science, religion, and communication.

Throughout the years, Breena has had the opportunity to work with many acclaimed conductors.  She is the soprano section leader for the Pacific Academy of Ecclesiastical Music choir (PACEM, www.pacem-music.org), and has toured, performing Handel’s Messiah and Leonard Bernstein's Mass with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra (Orchestra Nova), and has sung with the San Diego Opera, San Diego Symphony, Tijuana Opera Chorus and Orchestra, and SDSU Opera Theater, and held lead roles in over 15 musicals with MET2 (Metropolitan Educational Theatre Network).  Breena was also the Head Chorister for the St. Cecilia choir, and can be heard on the professional recording, Here Might I Stay and Sing (available at www.stpaulcathedral.org).

Being the music director at St. John’s has been such a blessing for Breena.  She looks forward to this new choir season and is excited that each choir member can be united in voice and exaltation of God.
