
Breena Loraine
Choir Director
Biography
Breena
Loraine is currently attending San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Administration (management) and a Bachelor of Music
degree in vocal performance, focusing on opera and early sacred music.
Her academic organizations and honor societies include the University
Honors Program, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International, and Phi Eta Sigma, and
she has been on the Dean’s List every semester for academic achievement.
This summer, Breena had the opportunity to study abroad at the University
of Oxford in England with a program for honors students, concentrating on
science, religion, and communication.
Throughout
the years, Breena has had the opportunity to work with many acclaimed
conductors. She is the soprano
section leader for the Pacific Academy of Ecclesiastical Music choir (PACEM,
www.pacem-music.org), and has toured,
performing Handel’s Messiah and Leonard
Bernstein's Mass with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra (Orchestra
Nova), and has sung with the San Diego Opera, San Diego Symphony, Tijuana Opera
Chorus and Orchestra, and SDSU Opera Theater, and held lead roles in over 15
musicals with MET2 (Metropolitan Educational Theatre Network).
Breena was also the Head Chorister for the St. Cecilia choir, and
can be heard on the professional recording, Here Might I Stay and Sing
(available at www.stpaulcathedral.org).
Being
the music director at St. John’s has been such a blessing for Breena.
She looks forward to this new choir season and is excited that each choir
member can be united in voice and exaltation of God.
